The Supreme Court of India is accepting applications for Judicial Clerkship 2024. Interested candidates are invited to apply by the deadline of February 15, 2024.
About the Position
Online applications are invited for the “Scheme of Engaging Law Clerk-cum-Research Associates on Short-Term Contractual Assignment in the Supreme Court of India – January 2024.” The aim is to establish a panel of approximately 90 candidates for engagement as Law Clerk-cum-Research Associates on a contractual basis. The selected candidates will receive a consolidated monthly stipend of Rs. 80,000/- for the assignment term spanning 2024-2025.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be Law Graduates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution in India, approved by the Bar Council of India for Advocate enrollment. Additionally:
- Candidates in the fifth year of the Five-Year Integrated Law Course or the third year of the Three-Year Law Course post-graduation in any stream are eligible, provided they can prove acquiring the Law qualification before taking up the assignment.
- Proficiency in research and analytical skills, writing abilities, and computer operations is essential, including familiarity with information retrieval from various legal databases.
Age Criteria
Applicants should be between 20 and 32 years old as of February 15, 2024.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of three phases:
- Part I: Multiple Choice Based Questions assessing candidates’ understanding and application of the law, as well as comprehension skills.
- Part II: Subjective Written Examination, evaluating writing and analytical skills.
- Part III: Interview.

Application Procedure and Fee
Eligible candidates must apply online using the provided link. The online application process begins on January 25, 2024, at 00:00 Hours and closes on February 15, 2024, at 24:00 Hours. Additionally:
- Candidates are required to pay an Application/Test Fee of Rs.500/- plus applicable bank charges online only.
- Payment should be made through the Payment Gateway provided by UCO Bank.
- No postal applications will be accepted.

- Online registration starts on January 25, 2024, at 00:00 Hours.
- The last date for registration is February 15, 2024, at 24:00 Hours.
Choice of Test Centre
Parts I and II will be conducted on the same day in two sessions at twenty-three centers across India. The written examination is scheduled for March 10, 2024.
Model Answer Keys and Remuneration
- Model Answer Keys will be uploaded on the website at 12:00 Noon on March 11, 2024, available till 11:59 p.m. on March 12, 2024, for online objections, subject to payment of charges.
- A consolidated remuneration of Rs. 80,000/- per month will be provided for the contractual assignment.
