Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel:
- Minimum 10 years of practice in criminal law.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of criminal law and ethical duties of a defense counsel.
- Leadership capability and team management skills.
- Must have handled at least 30 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxable in exceptional cases).
- Knowledge of computer systems is preferred.
Deputy Legal Aid Defense Counsel:
- Minimum 7 years of practice in criminal law.
- Proficient in oral and written communication.
- Skilled in legal research and ethical duties of a defense counsel.
- Must have handled at least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxable in exceptional cases).
- IT proficiency is required.
Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel:
- 0 to 3 years of practice in criminal law.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of ethical duties and legal research skills.
- IT proficiency is essential.
