About the Opportunity
S&P Global Commodity Insights (CI) is looking for a dynamic, commercially minded, and technologically savvy lawyer to join its Legal Strategy & Operations team as an Assistant Legal Counsel. The role is based in India and will work the EMEA shift, reporting to the Head of Legal, Strategy & Operations. The position offers a varied and interesting scope, including contract drafting, legal project management, and leveraging legal technology to support business operations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, updating, and proofreading contract templates and documents; maintaining the Contract Guidelines Table
- Providing training to SPGCI’s legal and business teams on legal templates and best practices
- Ensuring execution and implementation of legal projects
- Conducting legal research on emerging regulations and issues to support the CI Legal & Compliance Team
- Managing legal tech systems such as Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) and eSignature tools
- Regularly updating the legal clause library in the CLM AI tool and training CI lawyers on its use
- Working with legal operations specialists on CLM tool transition and support
- Maintaining integrity and accuracy of information in the CLM Tool database and the CI Legal & Compliance SharePoint knowledge-management repository
- Preparing regular legal update newsletters for the CI Legal & Compliance Team
- Updating the contents and design of legal training decks for business training
- Maintaining an updated and user-friendly Commodity Insights’ Product List
- Managing and monitoring legal team general mailboxes and other assigned matters
Eligibility Criteria
- Law degree from a recognized institution
- 4+ years of legal industry experience, either in-house or at a law firm
- Meticulous with excellent legal drafting skills and experience
- Sound legal knowledge and understanding
- Experience with CLM tools (including task automation workflows and document generation), contract management databases, and other information management tools
- Highly proficient with Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and AI tools
- Proactive, logical thinker with the ability to provide practical, win-win solutions
- Qualified as a lawyer in a common law jurisdiction
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and work to tight deadlines
- Team player who acts in the best interests of the company and the CI Legal & Compliance team
