Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel:
- Minimum 7 years of practice in criminal law.
- Excellent understanding of criminal law, strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal research and ethical duties of defense counsel.
- Must have handled at least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxed in exceptional circumstances).
- IT knowledge and proficiency in work are required.
Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel:
- 0 to 3 years of practice in criminal law.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, proficiency in legal research and understanding of ethical duties.
- IT proficiency is a must.
